Big Changes

Big changes in Second Life have recently occurred. The four main changes are:

No more Linden support for non-educational events
Ratings now cost L$25 each
Bonus stipend from rating was cut in half
Top Picks was replaced with "Features" that is basically paid advertising

Most of the changes I'm very happy with.

No more Linden support for non-educational events will hopefully cut back on the skanky, low grade events such as "Sexy AV..." or "Best thong...". The event list was SPAMED with these kind of events. It'll be nice to see the event list filled with creative and fun events.

Ratings now costing L$25 each is a very good thing also. The only thing I wish they would do now is zero the ratings everyone has so we can start over. Rating were intended to rate people on their abilities and talents. Most people used then, though, as a weekly income since there stipend bonus was dependent on that. Now hopefully people will use the ratings as they were intended. I would love to look at someone's profile and so that they are a great builder, not that they have been to a lot of rate parties.

Bonus stipend cuts tie in with the ratings and is what makes a lot of people mad. Because this was many people's source of income, they are furious. Pretty much what I said earlier. Ratings cost more, hence, people won't rate like crazy, hence, not a very big stipend bonus, bonuses being cut in half, hence, even less of a bonus stipend. Not a big deal for me because I don't use money for much anyway. Only hurts though that are big shoppers. The thing most don't realize that with the decrease of funds going into the world, merchants will be forced to lower their prices. People will still be able to do as much shopping as before. Even though they have less money, things will cost less. So, it will all even out.

The one thing that I don't think was a very good idea was the integration of Ebay to auction off the Featured list. What used to be the Top Picks was based on popularity (I think, could be wrong). Now only those with a lot of money will be "Featured".

Things are going great with the new rentals. They are all rented out and I already have a waiting list. I though my prices were going to be set to high. But, when people come and look, they are very happy with it. I also bought more land and was able to up their prim allowance from 95 to 110. I hope I can raise it even more because I can still buy, and am looking for, 1024m of land in Green. That's what my current tier will allow.

I'm getting closer to the BIG BREAKOUT. I've been in quite the creative block the past week of so. Been working on a shirt and so far I'm quite happy with it. What to get a few more outfits compiled before I come out though. It's hard work.

Anyway, happy Second Lifing. I will post soon.

Dawning Estates

I finally did what I've wanted to do since I've joined. I built some townhomes and put them up for rent. They've only been up less than a day and all but one is rented. Given there are only four, but still, I'm very excited about all of this. Here's a picture of the Estate:

I think people are drawn to it because it's not your average apartment building. It's very homey with trees and a nice little creek.I just wish I had more land so I could put up more.

One of my good friends, with a group of his friends, set up a very cool area. It's a fishing dock and it's pretty amazing. The poles and fishes are all scripted and depending on what pole you have and the bait you put on it, determines what size of fish you can catch. Obviously the better poles cost more but catch the biggest and best fish. The poles are also scripted with experience points and as your experience up you will be able to catch more fish. It's pretty amazing. Those involved need a great big round of applause.

Get Ready For...

Ok...so I'm not very good at this blog thing yet. I will...don't worry. :D Nothing exciting to report on though. Still working on town homes to rent out. Still messing with architectural stuff, basic land layout and landscaping. Here's a picture of what I have now...

One big thing I'm excited about it the big Break Out. I'm not going to tell much about it now because I'm not ready yet. But, I'm getting ready fast and furious. It's going to be...

Spectacular Spectacular
No words in the vernacular
Can describe this great event,
You'll be dumb with wonderment...

Still lots of major and minor details to work out. But I'm excited about it.

Tried a new thing out today. TRINGO. A new game that is kind of like tetris....but not. It's fun and addicting. It's nice to have some thing new like that come by. I'll post pictures of that too soon. Problem is, I'm not very good at picture taking. I hate the fact that they are saved as .bmp and not .jpg. What a freakin pain.

Anyway, happy life...er....second life....which ever you prefer.
